Holocaust Centre of New Zealand
Condemns Anti-Semitic Attacks
The Holocaust Centre of
New Zealand notes the cowardly and disturbing attacks on an
Auckland Jewish cemetery late this week.
It is distressing that this attack has occurred and is a reminder to all New Zealanders to be vigilant in protecting the rights of minority groups.
Director of the Holocaust Centre of New Zealand, Inge Woolf welcomed the supportive response from Race Relations Commissioner, Joris de Bres who said he was “saddened and sickened” by the attacks. He also said that “if people want to make a practical response that will help to counter this act of anti-Semitism a donation can be made online to the Holocaust Centre of New Zealand at http://www.holocaustcentre.org.nz/index.php/support-us”
The
aim of the Holocaust Centre of New Zealand is to tell of
humanity lost, of resilience and survival, and through the
stories of the refugees that came to New Zealand, teach
tolerance, courage and racial harmony”. The Centre hosts
many groups, including school groups, to learn from the
lessons of the holocaust.
