Police announce Easter Holiday Road Toll figures
The official holiday road toll figures were announced today by Jon White, CEO of the Australia New Zealand Policing Advisory Agency (ANZPAA)1.
Over the period 28 March 2013 – 1 April 2013, 21 lives were lost on Australian roads and 3 on New Zealand roads, compared to 10 lives lost in Australia and 0 lives lost in New Zealand last Easter.

1. Note: An addendum to the final official road toll figures will be released on 30 April 2013, should ANZPAA be advised that anyone subsequently dies as a result of injuries sustained over the Easter holiday road toll period.
2. Note: The New Zealand Ministry of Transport (who use a different counting period) kindly provide ANZPAA with the New Zealand road toll figures which fall within the Australian Easter counting period (00:01 Thursday 28 March – 23:59 1 April 2013). New Zealand’s official Easter holiday counting period for 2013 will begin at 1600 Thursday 28 March and end at 0600 hours Tuesday 2 April. Therefore the road toll statistics reported by ANZPAA may differ from the official New Zealand Easter holiday road toll.
