Request for Support - UN Humanitarian Support in DPRK
Ms. Amanda Ellis,
Deputy Secretary,

Development Group,
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
Trade,
195 Lambton Quay,
Wellington.
Dear Ms.
Ellis,
Further to our letter (20th March) requesting that the NZ Government provide financial support to the United Nations humanitarian programme in the DPRK, I am forwarding for your information DPRK Fact Sheets released last month by WFP and UNICEF.
The WFP 2013 programme of $93 million has currently only received $33.5 million funding.
The UNICEF programme of $27.5 million has currently only received $12 million funding.
The WFP and UNICEF programmes are targeted at the most vulnerable and it is an indictment on us in the rest of the world that these UN programmes are so poorly funded.
We look forward to your positive action towards rectifying this situation.
Sincerely
Peter
