Mana Proposal Flawed
PRESS RELEASE

Mana Proposal
Flawed
“Mana’s proposal of no deposit home loans for
Maori is majorly flawed” says Conservative Party Leader
Colin Craig.
“For starters, we need to forget about dividing people on the basis of race,” he says.
“It’s true that some Maori are in difficult circumstances, but so are many other New Zealanders, and whatever approach we take to housing needs to be an inclusive one.”
“Secondly, Mana’s proposal lacks basic commercial understanding. It is neither financially advisable, nor good use of taxpayers’ money, to lend 100% on anything. Perhaps Mr Harawira should consult the banking industry on the consequences of lending too much money to those who fail to meet suitable credit criteria.”
“Policies based on race are not good for our country. Neither is any policy that ignores economic and financial sense.”
