Conservatives Oppose Interference
Colin Craig has confirmed that the Conservative Party will not support legislation to override the ruling of the Commerce Commission on internet and telecommunications pricing.
“The Commerce Commission plays a vital role in regulating monopolies, and it is important that its function is not compromised by political interference. As a Party which promotes reduced costs for businesses and households, we do not support favouritism by government where legislation is passed to specifically assist big business at the cost of the rest of us,” he says.
“The Commerce Commission ruling which will see lower costs for internet users is a positive outcome, which should not be jeopardised for the benefit of one or two major corporates.”
