Dairy Workers Union National Executive endorses Andrew Little

The National Executive of the Dairy Workers Union has endorsed Andrew Little for the Labour Party leadership.

“All four candidates are highly regarded, but our voting delegates have asked our National Executive for its views on the leadership, and the executive has unanimously decided to make a recommendation,” said Chris Flatt, National Secretary, Dairy Workers Union.

“The Dairy Worker Union’s support of Andrew Little is based on his deep involvement with union members and working people over many years and from the experience he brings from outside of Parliament, in leadership roles with the EPMU and as President of the Labour Party.

“The DWU National Executive analysed many factors, including the previous political and non-political experience of all four candidates, their experience in representing workers’ interests, and fundamentally who was the best candidate who can help lead the Labour team to victory in the 2017 election. The DWU National Executive felt Andrew Little was the best choice among the four candidates.”

“Under the Labour Party rules and as communicated to our voting delegates, this is a recommendation only and is not binding upon them.”

“DWU voting delegates have been encouraged to conduct worksite meetings to seek feedback from members and where possible to also attend the candidate meetings closest to them.”

Dairy Worker Union delegates who are eligible to vote for the union in the Labour leadership election are all voting delegates to the DWU National Congress, being elected union delegates from worksites of 10 or more members.
