Women’s Refuge supports The Warehouse Group policy
Women’s Refuge supports The Warehouse Group for removing R18 games and DVDs from its shelves
“Making a stand to not stock R18 games and DVDs from stores is a progressive and laudable step for a retail business,” says Chief Executive of Women’s Refuge, Heather Henare.
“Keeping these products out of iconic family stores like The Warehouse and Noel Leeming shows that every person, group or business can take a stand to make our communities safer places,” she says.
Some extreme R18 games or DVDs diminish the importance and respect towards women and children. “The Warehouse and Noel Leeming are leading the way in their decision and I encourage other businesses to do the same.”
“Women’s Refuge is partnered by The Warehouse,” says Ms Henare. “Having this decision made in a week where we had White Ribbon, the release of the Glenn Inquiry report and the devastating murder of a woman, makes us even prouder to be partnered by a business such as this.”
