Appointment U-Turn Shows Council Dysfunction
Responding to the report that Auckland Council has quashed rumours of Sir Bob Harvey that he is the new ambassador for the Super City, Ratepayers’ Alliancespokesperson, Jo Holmes, says:
“The announcement, and subsequent u-turn on Mr Harvey’s appointment as an ambassador for Auckland Council points to dysfunction in City Hall. This has all the signs of a closed door appointment that’s gone wrong.”
“The Council must have, and be seen to have, robust and transparent appointment processes.”
“Rather than looking for new lavish roles to appoint politicians into vanity roles, the Council should be focusing on delivering efficient services and affordable rates.”
