New Zealand Youth Delegation to launch campaign calling on the Government to #FutureProofNZ

The New Zealand Youth Delegation (NZYD) will be launching their new campaign#FutureProofNZ at 3PM 12 September at the Southern Cross Garden Bar and Restaurant.

NZYD are a group of eight young New Zealanders from around the country travelling to the UN Paris Climate Change meeting to advocate for fair and effective climate action to ensure a safe and livable world for everyone, particularly future generations.

Their #FutureProofNz will be a campaign demanding a plan for real action to protect New Zealand’s way of life and economy from the challenges posed by climate change.

“It’s vital that New Zealand has a plan for real action to address climate change at the COP meeting in Paris later this year,” said New Zealand Youth Delegation Spokesperson Natalie Jones.

“New Zealand’s meager current emissions reductions target of 11% by 2030 and lack of a plan for real action is embarrassing for New Zealand’s international reputation, dangerous for the safety of the world’s climate and places New Zealand’s future prosperity and safety at risk.”

“We are calling for leadership from the Government. We need to a plan to future proof New Zealand to ensure that New Zealand is protected from the challenges posed by climate change and poised to take advantage of the transition to a clean energy future.”
