Carbon taxes and the OCR

Carbon taxes and the OCR

The Governor of the RBNZ has reduced interest rates to try and stimulate a sluggish economy.

The Minister for Climate Change Tim Groser on the other hand is trying to introduce a carbon tax or updated ETS as a result of the impending decision in Paris to laughably try and reduce CO2 emissions to stop the temperature of the earth rising by 5/10000th of a degree C 100 years from now(our share) at a cost to the tax payer of $30B between now and 2030. This tax has to be paid for by reducing household incomes by $1320/an every year from 2021 to 2030.

Will the Government via the Minister of Finance put a stop to his colleagues (the new Minister of Climate Change Paula Bennett)attempting to thwart the actions of the Governor to stimulate economic growth that is the engine to prosperity and our ability to improve the environment, reduce poverty, increase medical benefits, improve infrastructure, education and the general welfare of society.? Happy days, this reminds me of the situation where you have one foot in the fire and the other in a bucket of ice, on average you are comfortable.(but most likely dead) which is where the economy will be if we let the UN bureaucrats decide our economic policy for us.

The measure of Paula Bennett’s success will be how she deals with the insanity that reigns in the world of Climate Change and how she stops putting in useless climate taxes that push the very people of West Auckland that put her in power, further into poverty. Good luck Paula keep the 2017 election in mind.
