Council IT Blow-Out Eye Watering

2016
Responding to today’s report in the NZ Herald that Auckland Council has spend $1.24 billion on IT since it was formed in 2010, Auckland Ratepayers’ Alliance spokesperson, Jo Holmes, says:
“Ratepayers will be stunned at this new
level of waste and incompetence hitting them in the pockets.
Per ratepayer, the amount spent on IT is almost
$2,500.”
“It sets a new low in Auckland Council’s
efforts to waste our money. It spent more than $1.2 billion
for what ANZ bank achieved for less than a fifth of that
amount. It suggests something is seriously lacking in
Auckland Council’s leadership.”
“Councillor Mike Lee is rightly calling this a scandal. So where is the accountability, the thorough examination of officials and public enquiry? Councillors should be doing their jobs and holding officials to account for this ridiculous spending."
