Council Vote to Continue to Support Sock Puppets
Council Vote to Continue to Support Sock Puppets
31 MARCH
2016
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Responding the the news that Auckland Councillors have voted to continue funding the Auckland Property Council, Auckland Ratepayers’ Alliance spokesperson, Jo Holmes, says:
“This is an extremely disappointing result for ratepayers. Councillors are effectively using ratepayer money so a private lobby group will be the Council’s sock puppet.”
“Earlier today we revealed that the Council funds hundreds of similar organisations, some of which are based overseas. Ratepayers’ money should be going towards maintaining local services, not filling the pockets of lobby groups.”
