Whānau Tahi strengthens with SimplHealth acquisition

Whānau Tahi Limited, the Waipareira Trust subsidiary with growing interests in IT, health and well-being, today announced the acquisition of SimplHealth, the well-known health IT specialist behind the technology powering New Zealand’s ePrescription Service.

The acquisition means the teams, products and services of SimplHealth will be merged with Whānau Tahi with immediate effect.

The larger company will offer a comprehensive portfolio of products and services focused on personal, whānau and community centric health and well-being by using information and data to drive better health outcomes.

Whānau Tahi’s Managing Director, Ray Noonan, says the acquisition is part of our vision to develop strength in providing improved future health and well-being for communities in New Zealand and overseas:

“There’s huge opportunity to address the many health and well-being challenges we face as a country.

“This acquisition brings together two likeminded organisations who are both passionate about using technology to collaborate, connect and deliver better social and health outcomes, part of which is enabling people to manage their own wellbeing.

“Up until now our focus has been empowering connected care through two integrated services, Whānau Tahi Connected Care and our Navigator platform,” he says.

“This will now be enhanced by SimplHealth’s considerable expertise in medications intelligence, health services information and payment management to really build our strength.”

Bennett Medary, from SimplHealth echoed these comments:

“As a company we have always been passionate about collaboration to develop and deliver solutions to help people - our motto for many years has been ‘together we can do amazing things.’

“This new venture will demonstrate this more than anything else and we are very excited about the possibilities ahead to support people and communities directly,” he says.

Whānau Tahi, 100 percent owned by Te Whānau o Waipareira Trust, is at the forefront of enabling connected care services and collaboration between providers (health and social), the patient and their whānau; to empower the whānau in achieving their goals and aspirations throughout New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and the USA to deliver better societal outcomes.

SimplHealth has carved a niche as a health IT services provider of cloud based, software as a service (SAAS) solutions, with a focus on collaboration and sharing of information, and is well-known for providing technology for national systems including the New Zealand e-Prescription Service, the Socrates Disability Management System and the Before 4 School Check.
