Auditor-General's Annual Report 2015/16 published
The Auditor-General’s Annual Report 2015/16 was presented to the House of Representatives today.
In this report, the Auditor-General reflects on the Office’s work in 2015/16. The report describes the Office’s progress against our strategy and how we are communicating with people about our work so we maximise the impact of our reports and promote improvements in the public sector. The Auditor-General thanks staff and auditors for their accomplishments in a year of achievements, challenges, and change. The achievements have included our reflections report on governance and accountability; the implementation of new financial reporting standards for the public sector; further work on the Canterbury earthquakes and Auckland Council; and a challenging programme of audits and inquiries.
This year, our Annual Report incorporates aspects of integrated reporting, which is a new way of reporting about strategy, performance, and sustainability. We intend to progressively adopt principles of integrated reporting into our planning and reporting processes and external accountability documents.
The Annual Report also describes the services the Office delivers and how well the Office delivered those services, and provides the Office’s financial statements for 2015/16.
