Thank You to the People of Nelson
Thank You to the People of Nelson
Heartened by a significant majority, returning Nelson City Mayor Rachel Reese celebrated a resounding re-election with supporters at her at home on Saturday afternoon. Comfortable in the knowledge that the result endorsed both the success of her inaugural term and the platform of policies she presented, Reese was enjoying the moment and looking forward to getting back to business.
“Election time will always be the
biggest distraction any Mayor faces”, laughed Reese “But
this result completely supports the fact that Nelsonians -
in the main, are happy with the direction this Council is
going in, and confident that we have the City’s best
interests at heart. Yes, we’ve got some new faces at the
table but that’s exciting. What it means is that the
democratic process is working. On this occasion the voters
of Nelson have chosen to stay with what they felt was
working but have also been confident to make changes where
they felt it was needed.”
Mayor Reese and the 2016
Councillors will be sworn in on Thursday 27th October 2016.
