The People's Choice pleased with election results

Media Release - The People's Choice

Saturday 8th October 2016, 2:00pm

The People's Choice pleased with Christchurch City Council local body election results:

Preliminary local body election results have been released in the last few minutes. The People's Choice is pleased with these results, which have increased their numbers by one, from six Council seats to seven.

“I am very pleased with the results. With seven seats The People’s Choice has been returned as the largest group on the Christchurch City Council. I'm delighted that our six incumbent councillors have been returned, and extremely pleased to see Anne Galloway elected as the new Councillor for Halswell. I know Anne will make an excellent Councillor, will be a great addition to the team, and I look forward to working with her" said Andrew Turner, Peoples Choice caucus leader.

"This is a strong vote of confidence in the vision of a progressive, forward-looking city we campaigned on".

We’re looking forward to working with all elected members to achieve the progressive, positive goals we campaigned on, and particularly with the re-elected Mayor, Lianne Dalziel.

Unfortunately, not all of our candidates were successful, and I’d like to acknowledge the hard work they all put in to the campaign. The strong showing they achieved indicates the respect the community had for them, and I’m sure we’ll see more of them in the future”.

Ends.
