No Maori on Mars
No Maori on Mars
Press Release: Mon 1 May 2017
“Political correctness can be a pain in the ass” said MANA Leader Hone Harawira “but saying that using Maori place names is ‘PC gone mad’ is a crack up when you see the guy doing the moaning comes from Paraparaumu, ‘cause you know how badly people pronounce that place name!”
“Places all across this beautiful country were given names which speak to the history and the people of that place and time, and we honour that memory by recognising those names.
“People who don’t like to see Maori place names, or Maori people for that manner, are always going to struggle in this country” said Harawira. “Maori have been here since year dot, our numbers are increasing, and I don’t see us disappearing any time soon”
“If guys like Mike Judd don’t want to deal with that reality, they might want to go somewhere where there aren’t any Maori – like Mars”
