Any decision to change the makeup of
Auckland Council should be put to the people as a
referendum, says the Auckland Ratepayers' Alliance.
Jo Holmes, Spokesperson for the Auckland Ratepayers’ Alliance says, "Auckland ratepayers already pay millions for the Māori Statutory Board to give Māori a voice at the Council table."
"If Māori seats are to be added into the mix, that decision should be up to Aucklanders not professional politicians."
