Pike Families Welcome Agency CE Appointment

Pike River families are welcoming the appointment of Major General Dave Gawn to the role of Chief Executive to e Kāhui Whakamana Rua Tekau mā Iwa - the Pike River Recovery Agency.

Pike family member Bernie Monk says the appointment gives them great confidence in the agency. “We met with Major General Gawn this morning and have been very impressed with his openness and his calm and sensible approach. We have every expectation that everything possible will be done to make the project a success.”

Pike mother Sonya Rockhouse says says she is pleased to have such a quality appointment made so quickly. “We’ve worked hard to make sure this agency is fit for purpose and will provide all of the tools Major General Gawn needs to get the job done. After our meeting with him this morning we are really pleased he has taken that job on.”
