Tūwharetoa Claims Settlement Bill, which is being
considered by Parliament’s Māori Affairs
Committee.
The bill would give effect to the deed
of settlement signed on 8 July 2017 by the Crown with
Ngāti
Tūwharetoa. The deed records the Crown's apology
and agrees to a final settlement of all historical
Treaty
of Waitangi claims of Ngāti Tūwharetoa. Ngāti
Tūwharetoa’s rohe is in the central North
Island,
around Lake Taupō.
