Coalition To End Homelessness Conference

Coalition To End Homelessness Conference (Wed 21st of Feb, 2018)

New Zealand Coalition to End Homelessness

• The New Zealand Coalition to End Homelessness (NZCEH) is an incorporated society that works towards ending homelessness in Aotearoa New Zealand.

• NZCEH’s mission is to promote a society with adequate support services where all people can have a place they can call home while operating within a Tiriti o Waitangi / Treaty of Waitangi relationship framework. NZCEH believes every person has the right to an adequate standard of living and housing to ensure their health and the health of their family.

• Everyone, regardless of income or economic resource, is entitled to this right, without distinction, exclusion or restriction on the basis of any specific characteristic such as race, religion, age, [dis]ability, or gender. Owing to a range of circumstances and barriers, people who are homeless are excluded from these fundamental rights.

• NZCEH recognises Te Ao Maori when considering Maori who experience homelessness and acknowledges the need to incorporate tangata whenua values in developing solutions. The work of NZCEH is also based on taking a holistic view of homelessness and the solutions required to tackle homelessness.
