The Officers of Parliament Committee recommended on 11 April 2018 to the
House of Representatives the appointment of John Michael
Ryan as the next Controller and Auditor-General for a term
not exceeding seven years.
John has most recently held the position of Deputy Director-General for the Ministry for Primary Industries. His other roles include Executive Director for Capital and Coast/Hutt Valley and Wairarapa District Health Boards, and Deputy Chief Executive/Chief Operating Officer for the Ministry of Justice. He has a background in accounting and assurance, working in financial auditing, litigation support, acquisitions, and divestments in both New Zealand and overseas.
On 12 April, the House agreed to recommend to the Governor-General that John be appointed as Controller and Auditor-General for a seven-year term starting on 2 July 2018.
We look forward to welcoming John to the Office.
