Governor-General visit to Gallipoli for Anzac Day
The Governor-General, The Rt Hon Dame Patsy Reddy, GNZM, QSO, will represent the people of New Zealand at the 2018 Anzac Day commemorations in Gallipoli.
Dame Patsy and Sir David Gascoigne will travel to Turkey on Saturday 21 April and will return to New Zealand on Saturday 28 April.
On 24 April, Dame Patsy and Sir David will attend Turkish, French and Commonwealth and Irish commemorations in Gallipoli. On Anzac Day, Dame Patsy will speak at the Joint New Zealand and Australian Dawn Service in Anzac Cove, and at the New Zealand Commemorative Service at Chunuk Bair later that morning.
During her visit, Dame Patsy will also travel to Ankara to meet HE Mr Ismail Kahraman, the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, and HE Mr Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Turkey. A visit to Anitkabir, the Ataturk Mausoleum, is also on the programme.
