Cycleways are a waste of ratepayers’ money
13 NOVEMBER 2018
A new Auckland Transport report
says that over-estimated cycling demand led to poor
investment decisions, says the Auckland Ratepayers’
Alliance.
Ratepayers’ Alliance spokesperson Jo Holmes says “The data shows exactly what everyone in Auckland already knew: Auckland Transport is tearing up roads to build cycle ways that very few people use. Auckland Transport needs to kick its green-agenda to touch and build the transport infrastructure that Aucklanders want to use, not what Auckland Transport wishes they would use.”
“Auckland is not Amsterdam. Council officials should stop wasting ratepayers’ money pretending otherwise.”
