Aged Care Commissioner Needed Now
The unacceptable standard of care currently existing in the Aged Care Sector as described at the Etu meeting in Wellington Thursday 14/3/19 highlights the urgent need for the Government to fulfill its pre Election promise to establish an Aged Care Commissioner in it’s first budget. Nurse and Care Workers wages in the Aged Care Sector need to be lifted to the same level as exists in the Public Hospital sector to address serious staffing shortages'.
Grey Power members are at a loss as to why the Government is dragging it’s heels on this serious issue. The longer this situation continues the more of New Zealand’s Elderly and Infirm are suffering. We need action now.
