Shipley - 'Globocop'
"Bill Clinton obviously left his mark on Jenny Shipley while he was here," says Libertarianz Spokesman Bernard Darnton of her announcement that New Zealand would be sending police to East Timor, in imitation of America's busybody 'Globocop' policy.
"The New Zealand government's job is to preserve law and order in New Zealand - which they are finding a bit of a struggle" comments Law and Order Spokesman Darnton.
"While many New Zealanders feel strongly about events in East Timor it is not up to the government to put our police officers in harm's way in another country. Some may choose to go voluntarily and other people may choose to support them financially but there should be no compulsion in either case.
"What Clinton, Shipley and almost every other politician either doesn't realise or deliberately ignores is that government exists only to prevent the inflicting of violence on its own citizens, not to go stomping round the globe telling other people what to do."
