Banks Peninsula Web Site Popular Overseas

The Banks Peninsula District Council Web site, at www.bankspeninsula.com, remains popular with overseas users, although there was a big jump in local users during October because of the local body elections.

The BPDC collates monthly figures on the Web site, recording the number of visitors to the site, and their geographic location. The biggest single group of users were from the United States, at 259, up 40 per cent from September, and accounting for 36% of total usage.

Local usage more than doubled, with 257 user sessions recorded in October, more than twice the 119 sessions in September. Australian-based users remained low at 21, down from 31 in September.

There was strong interest from Asian-based users, with 125 sessions recorded, almost double that of September. There were also 22 user sessions from people in Canada, and 29 from Britain.

The most popular pages in October were the election results, followed by news (Peninsula Bulletins), job vacancies, and the visitor information directory.
