Descisys signs global alliance deal with IBM
New Zealand software company Descisys signs global
alliance deal with IBM
World’s largest IT company to help Auckland-based business intelligence
software developer take its products to global market
Auckland, New Zealand (April 29): In a first for a New Zealand company,
Auckland-based business intelligence software company Descisys has become a
global strategic alliance partner of the world’s largest information
technology company, IBM.
IBM will work with Descisys to market and sell the company’s range of
business intelligence software products as part of IBM's commitment to take
global best of breed technology to customers worldwide.
Descisys Managing Director, Vilosh Brito, said the deal is extremely
significant for his company and the New Zealand software industry as a
whole.
“IBM’s global strategic alliance partners number only 80 and Descisys now
finds itself in the company of the best IT companies in the world,” said Mr
Brito. “This strategic alliance is only the fourth to be signed with an
Australasian company and this deal clearly demonstrates that New Zealand
technology is up there with the world’s best.”
Identified by the New Zealand government as one of 300 high growth
potential companies, Descisys has developed world class applications for
improving corporate performance for commercial and government organizations
based on IBM Websphere and DB2 database technology.
IBM New Zealand Managing Director, Nick Lambert, said “The global strategic
alliance is a significant endorsement of Descisys from IBM and I am
delighted to be able to take innovative New Zealand technology to the world
in this way. IBM has worked closely with Descisys as a business partner
under our software developer programme and the results have been so
positive that the next stage in growing the relationship has been the
alliance.”
“Our products deal with perhaps the key issue facing many corporations and
government departments today,” says Mr Vilosh Brito. “They have many
systems to operate their business but they are still looking for solutions
that help them manage it effectively.” With a blue chip client list
including Carter Holt Harvey in New Zealand, the Australian Department of
Financial Affairs and in the United Kingdom, Her Majesty’s Treasury and a
large financial institution, Vilosh is clear about the company’s key to
success.
“Compared to our competitors, we have the only integrated business
performance management system in the world today. There are many others
that address similar areas to those covered by our products but nothing
offering the integrated management system like the Descisys products and
all developed here in New Zealand,” said Vilosh.
Descisys is now preparing to open offices in both Europe and the US, to
take further advantage of the growing need for their much sought after
business management solutions.
