The Freedom Of Choosing The Sex Of One's Children

The Freedom Of Choosing The Sex Of One's Children

Press release of Raelian Movement
1st July 2003

His Holiness Rael supports the individual freedom of choosing the sex of one's children

His Holiness Rael, founder and spiritual leader of the Raelian Movement, wishes to publicly announce his support to Mrs. Nicola Chenery. Thanks to an IVF treatment in which embryos were created and then chosen based on their sex, Nicola Chenery was able to genetically modify the future of her offspring and bear a girl... actually two girls! Chenery is expecting twins, as reported by BBC News on Friday.

Mother of four, aged between 3 and 11 years old, Mrs. Chenery has always "wanted to experience the relationship between a mother and a daughter". At 34, her dream finally becomes reality. The story of the Chenery family has raised controversy around the world. For Raelians worldwide, the announcement of such an event is a reason to celebrate in much the same way they have celebrated for the birth of the cloned babies 6 months ago because to reproduce as one sees fit is a fundamental right.

It has been 30 years now that His Holiness RAEL has been saying that everything will be achievable through science, this very science which is at the origin of all life forms on Earth. This was revealed to Him on December 13th 1973 by beings coming from another planet (see www.rael.org).

Science is revolutionizing our society and ts 'family' concepts. This is why religions of the past try all they can to stop it. The story of Mrs. Chenery, such as Clonaid's and many others, prove that it is impossible to stop science and that the freedom to use it in all conscience will, sooner or later, have to be recognized as stated in His Holiness Rael's latest book "Yes to Human Cloning".
