LOTR LOCATION PHOTOS
AVAILABLE ON THE INTERNET

High quality photos of New Zealand scenery that featured in The Lord of the Rings trilogy can now be ordered over the internet.
A Crown Research Institute with a photo library of 200,000 New Zealand landscape images has selected images of some of the locations where the three movies were shot.
The Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences Ltd (GNS) is displaying thumbnails of the images on its website. As one might expect, a number of the images have a geological flavour. They can be ordered over the internet at a wide range of sizes or as digital images.
About 60 percent of the images are aerial oblique photos, with the balance taken from ground level. They were taken by noted landscape photographer, Lloyd Homer.

Landscape location images from Whale Rider and The Last Samurai and other movies shot in New Zealand will be added to the website in the near future.
GNS also has 6000 of its most popular landscape photos in a searchable on-line database. The images can be searched by place name or by theme such as rivers, horticulture, lakes, cities, and sunsets.
The images can be viewed at: www.gns.cri.nz
