Hyperion Customers Deploying Dashboards

Hyperion Customers Deploying Dashboards As
The Face Of Business Performance Management

BAX Global and Alstom Power Use Hyperion Dashboards to Achieve Time to Value Benefit

CHICAGO – HYPERION SOLUTIONS 2004 CONFERENCE – April 26, 2004 – Companies as diverse as BAX Global and Alstom Power are using dashboards to increase productivity, anticipate small problems before they become big problems, and improve customer service, according to Hyperion (NASDAQ:HYSL), the global leader in Business Performance Management software. These companies are among the hundreds deploying dashboards created with Hyperion technologies.

“Hyperion-built dashboards are the face of Business Performance Management,” said Rich Clayton, vice president of product marketing at Hyperion. “Our customers are using dashboards to keep a finger on the pulse of their organisations. As a result, they always know what is happening. And because at any time they can drill down deep in the underlying data that fuels their dashboards, they can get the real insights that drive performance.”

BAX Global, a US$2.1 billion worldwide transportation and supply chain management company, serves more than 200 customers in the aerospace, automotive, fashion, healthcare and high-tech industries. In one week, BAX Global manages about 6,000 tons of goods, shipping between hundreds of origins and destinations.

BAX Global uses Hyperion dashboards to monitor performance and data generated by transactional systems and database servers from 12 geographies. Using dashboards results in an estimated savings of 15 person hours each day, according to BAX, and enables the company to put more focus on core business operations. The company has cut down its reporting processes from 600 hours per month to 50 hours for one client alone. Considering time saved for all of its clients combined, productivity savings are enormous.

“Hyperion dashboards empower us to measure our supply chain performance, including international airlines, ocean liners, trucking companies, distribution centres and other types of supply chain partners,” said Beacham. “Individual BAX Global partners have access to a Web-based, personalised, secure dashboard and check for red or amber warning lights that alert them to potential problems. They can then drill down into underlying data and explore the nature of those problems to prevent redundancy and loss of product value.”

Alstom Power, a global specialist in energy and transport infrastructure, had a dashboard solution up and running in less than 60 days, a testimony to the solution’s ease-of-use and quick deployment. Alstom decision makers, including the company’s president, use dashboards to monitor every aspect of their business. Alstom serves the energy market through its activities in power generation and power transmission and distribution, as well as in rail and marine transport.

“In our 10 years of data warehouse reporting experience, we’ve never before had the insight and flexibility we’ve received using Hyperion Intelligence,” said Walt St.John, manager, Information Reporting, at Alstom. “We’re highly metrics-driven and Hyperion gave us new ways to measure our processes and identify problems and develop proactive plans to address difficulties, often eliminating them before they occur.”
