New owners for Internet Bureau

New owners for Internet Bureau

The Internet Bureau, New Zealand’s largest provider of online advertising services to agencies, today announced it had been acquired by online advertising specialist, emitch.

The partnership is a positive one for The Internet Bureau allowing it to retain its agency and media owner independence, while benefiting from being part of a larger independent publicly listed company with an experienced senior management team.

The Internet Bureau will continue with its focus of providing world class online advertising services solely to advertising agencies. It will be headed up by John Schofield, who takes up the position of General Manager. John Stewart will leave the business to focus on running web development company InterACTION after a consultancy period.

Founded in 1999, emitch are the market leader in online advertising in Australia and have considerable experience with emerging technologies including sophisticated rich media solutions, and electronic direct marketing. In their home market emitch currently services around 15 advertising agencies, plus a number of large online marketing clients.

In making the announcement John Schofield said:
“When John Stewart and I started the business 6 years ago, we were right in the middle of the dotcom meltdown. We were grateful for the support from many of New Zealand’s top media directors from the start, and in getting the most talented online professionals, such as Deborah (Davenport), on board early.

The Internet Bureau’s key asset to the great team of experienced and passionate online advertising practitioners. I am very proud of the work the team has done over the last 6 years and the huge contribution they have made, and will continue to make, helping grow the online advertising market in New Zealand.

It is an exciting time for the New Zealand online advertising industry. More homes and businesses are getting high speed broadband internet connections, and with this comes the opportunity to have more engaging and brand oriented advertising. Our partnership with emitch gives the Internet Bureau additional access to resources and tools, ensuring New Zealand companies remain globally competitive as online advertisers locally and abroad.
