Group Standards data easy to access with new CD
A new ERMA New Zealand CD will allow quick and easy access to information on group standards covering thousands of hazardous substances.
ERMA New Zealand Chief Executive, Rob Forlong, says the issue of the CD follows the completion last July of the Transfer project, where over 120,000 chemicals and products from earlier legislation were amalgamated into the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (HSNO) Act 1996.
The project established group standards to manage risks associated with the manufacture, importation, use and disposal of hazardous substances, and involved the collaboration of ERMA New Zealand, industry and a range of government agencies over five years.
The new CD outlines group standards for hazardous substances ranging from industrial chemicals to products commonly found in the home, such as detergents and drain cleaners, Mr Forlong said.
"The CD provides a fast, convenient tool for anyone needing information on hazardous substances, and is likely to be in regular use within industry and among manufacturers, importers, enforcement agencies, test certifiers and so on, to assist with meeting HSNO Act requirements," he said.
