October Online Fraud Intelligence Report
Online Fraud Intelligence Report
Each month the RSA
Anti-Fraud Command Center (AFCC) issues its Phishing
Intelligence Report with key statistics from its global
phishing repository. The reports also include trend analysis
derived from the expertise of the AFCC fraud analysts.
The AFCC is a 24x7 war-room that detects, monitors, tracks and shuts down phishing, pharming and Trojan attacks against over 60 institutions worldwide. The AFCC has shut down over 10,000 phishing attacks and is a key industry source for information on phishing and emerging online threats.
Since the beginning of 2006, phishing has remained the most wide-spread online fraud technique; however, the AFCC has detected several cases of additional attacks such as Trojans.
Consistent with previous months, US brands continue to comprise just over 75% of the overall number of brands targeted by phishers, with European brands comprising 20%, and the rest of the world accounting for the remaining 5%.
