A fix for DNS vulnerability this Patch Tuesday
“It appears that a fix for the DNS vulnerability may be available this Patch Tuesday”, said Chris Wood, Director PatchLink ANZ. “Given the reach of the DNS, the IT community has been lucky that there has been no widespread exploits.”
“On the Exchange vulnerability, this is the first one released in a while and has the potential to impact all mail. Since emails are now considered mission critical, IT teams could be stuck between a rock and a hard place. IT administrators may need to advance their maintenance windows on Exchange however this could impact the availability of email within organization. Since this patch is appearing mid week they will need to balance the risk of waiting until their normal maintenance window (typically weekends) versus the possible impact of taking their email server offline for patching.”
