First with Active Noise Rejection for BT headsets

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Phitek first to market with Active Noise Rejection technology to combat ambient noise in monaural BT wireless headsets

CES, Las Vegas 8 January 2009 - Phitek Systems Limited, the global leader in advanced active noise cancellation technologies, announced today the development of an effective Active Noise rejection solution to significantly improve the quality of voice received over a monaural BT wireless headset in a high noise environment.

Monaural BT headsets provide consumers with a convenient hands free connection to their mobile phones. These devices are typically used “on the go”, often in environments compromised by high levels of ambient noise. This creates a significant challenge for the effective utility of the device as noise easily corrupts the intelligibility of the voice signal as received by the microphone as well as compromising the quality of sound delivered to the ear. This reduction in overall sound quality in a two way exchange severely undermines the value proposition in employing such equipment, slowing the rate of market penetration.

To date most solutions for reducing the influence of noise in monaural BT headset applications have focused on improving the quality of the transmitted signal, where a myriad of technologies now exist. Phitek has focused its efforts on developing solutions for enhancing the quality of sound experienced at the receive end of the communication exchange – solutions that directly benefit the user of the device.

Phitek is the first to market with an effective solution for reducing the influence of ambient noise on the quality of sound delivered to the ear. This solution is based on Phitek’s proprietary Active Noise Rejection™ technology, already employed in many of the world’s leading premium active noise cancellation headphones, earphones and commercial aviation systems. Phitek has now streamlined this technology in two easy to use components, offering a cost-effective route for customers to integrate ANRTM benefits into their products.

Phitek’s ANR™platform for monaural BT headsets combines a low power, low noise controller in a System-In-Package (SiP) format with a compact acoustic subsystem to deliver a complete, optimized ANR™ solution. The acoustic subsystem has been miniaturized and can be easily integrated to meet the customer’s ergonomic requirements. The Phitek SiP is a single chip solution, which operates seamlessly with all BT wireless formats. The solution is plug’n’play, enabling any monaural BT device an effective Active Noise Rejection™ capability.

Mark Donaldson, CEO stated, “Phitek is very pleased to offer its partners with a unique technology to significantly improve the quality of sound delivered by monaural BT headsets in a high noise environment. We believe that this technology will become an important feature in the coming year as it provides such a compelling improvement over the status quo.”
