The Environmental Risk Management Authority is calling for submissions on an application by Leeston company Pest-Tech to import or manufacture microencapsulated zinc phosphide.

The zinc phosphide will be used to manufacture a paste for use as a vertebrate toxic agent (poison) for ground control of pests, with its main target being the brush tail possum.

Submissions on the application close on 20 July, 2009.

Submissions can be made by letter or email (submissions@ermanz.govt.nz), or through the ERMA New Zealand website, http://www.ermanz.govt.nz/consultations/consult-apps.html

The full application can be found at: http://www.ermanz.govt.nz/resources/publications/pdfs/hsr09013application.pdf
