Internationally Acclaimed Nano-coatings by NanoPhos Come to New Zealand

The new powerhouse in practical nanotechnology, NanoPhos SA, recently earned two internationally prestigious awards in the building industry at the Shanghai World Expo 2010 and the International Building and Construction Show BIG5 in Dubai. NanoPhos is quickly becoming the “go to” company for renowned architects and builders around the globe for its pioneering nanotechnologies that protect structural and aesthetic surfaces. With such prestigious applications as the Acropolis Museum and the Copenhagen Music Hall, among many others, it is no wonder they already have distribution in 20 countries, including New Zealand.

NanoPhos’ SurfaPore ThermoDry is a revolutionary paint additive that turns ordinary acrylic paint into a thermal barrier. SurfaPore ThermoDry was chosen as the standard thermal coating for the Shanghai World Expo 2010 Zero Energy Development (ZED) Pavilion. The ZED Pavilion showcases a holistic approach to urban sustainability, highlighting a range of key strategies, technologies and components that are key to meeting our global commitments to a low carbon future.

The Shanghai World Expo 2010 was visited by more than 73 million visitors, occupied a space of 5.28 square kilometers and took place from May 1st till October 31st. The theme of the Shanghai World

At The International Building and Construction Show BIG5 in Dubai SurfaShield C, by NanoPhos, was a finalist for the coveted GAIA award. More that 2,250 exhibitors from around the word participate in the BIG5 show which is the largest in the Middle East. The GAIA awards aim to raise the profile of green or environmentally sound building products, and the panel of distinguished judges apply strict selection criteria for this prestigious award.

Pioneering Paint Additive Makes Everyday Paint a Thermal Barrier
SurfaPore ThermoDry is an innovative paint additive that transforms common water based acrylic paint into a waterproof thermal insulator. This revolutionary technology reflects over 90% of the infrared spectrum and significantly decreases thermal conductivity. Further, it prevents water condensation and the development of mould on walls. The effectiveness of the product has been validated by a number of international research labs, as has been successfully applied to military vehicles, commercial roofing and manufacturing plants where energy efficiency and thermal management are paramount.

Self-Cleaning, Antimicrobial Coatings Make the World a Safer Place
The revolutionary nanotechnology behind SurfaShield C transforms porous surfaces like painted walls and cement into self-cleaning and self-sterilizing surfaces. This safe and easy to apply water based nanoparticle emulsion is activated by ambient light so it perpetually cleans and steralises treated surfaces. Pollutants and bacteria are effectively eliminated without dangerous chemicals. The result is a safer environment without large quantities of environmentally unfriendly chemicals.

About NanoPhos
NanoPhos SA is a European nanotechnology company that develops products that waterproof and protect common surfaces from moisture, heat and environmental stress. In January of 2008, Bill Gates recognized NanoPhos as one of the most innovative companies. The company also received 1st prize for innovation at the prestigious 100% Detail Show in London in September of 2008. With a simple application, SurfaPore products waterproof and protect common surfaces such as cement, stones, roof tiles, marble or granite without changing their natural look. SurfaPore nanoparticles “coat” the pores of surfaces and protect them from deterioration due to humidity, mould and bacteria, and shield surfaces such as marbles, tiles and granites from staining. SurfaPore products are low VOC, safe, water based and do not contain any hazardous solvents.

The effectiveness and ease of use of the company’s solutions have been rapidly recognized worldwide and products can be found in more than 20 countries including the United Kingdom, Italy, Norway, Japan, China, New Zealand, Greece, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, Russia and Mexico.
