readiness
Christchurch, New Zealand – January 24, 2012 – Fremont, California-based Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone and colocation provider, today announced that its Director of IPv6 Strategy, Martin Levy, will deliver the keynote address at the NZNOG conference 2012, which takes place on January 26th at the Copthorne Commodore Hotel in Christchurch.
During his keynote discussion, Mr. Levy will discuss Hurricane Electric’s history of IPv6 advocacy, global routing readiness, the substantial growth rate of global IPv6 adoption and a provocative timeline for the global exhaustion of the IPv4 address space by region. Mr. Levy will also touch on the costs and benefits of IPv6, its salient characteristics, and dual-stack transition strategies. In addition, Levy will discuss the consequences of failed or delayed transitions to IPv6.
Mr. Levy will also discuss the consequences of activities planned for World IPv6 Launch 2012, which will occur on June 6, 2012. On this date, major participants around the world will commit to ensuring that IPv6 addresses will be permanently advertised through the global Domain Name System (DNS).
“This conference is well timed, as June 6, 2012 is the day for world IPv6 adoption,” said Martin Levy. “I am honored to address the summit and look forward to sharing a global progress report on global IPv6 connectivity."
Hurricane Electric is one of the few global Internet backbones that is IPv6 native and does not rely on internal tunnels for its IPv6 connectivity. IPv6 at Hurricane Electric is a core service and every customer is provided IPv6 connectivity as well as classic IPv4 connectivity.
