Sir Ray Avery’s Cloud Based Breakthrough Has Potential to Reduce Preventable Deaths.
A revolutionary New Zealand healthcare technology, using a small footprint 24 hr wearable wristband which can predict possible adverse healthcare outcomes in the home and elsewhere, will change the way medicine is practiced globally.
Vigil Wireless Sensor Technology is the latest disruptive technology from scientist, inventor and social entrepreneur Sir Ray Avery and his team and will be marketed worldwide by Vigil Monitoring Ltd NZ
Patient heart rate, body temperature, movement, blood oxygen saturation is measured by the wristband and is wirelessly streamed to Vigil’s Cloud Platform where biometric analysis is performed and actionable alerts are sent Smartphone and Tablet devices on IOS, Android and Windows 8 platforms. The biometric trends and alerts can be accessed in real time by caregivers, GP’s and health specialists from any location in the world.
“The wristband contains an array of best in class photoelectric sensors,” explained Sir Ray Avery, “ and continuously monitors patient’s vital signs and sends the biometric data to the internet cloud where the trend data is attached to the patients medical records.”
The biometric data and can be compared to the patients drug regimes, and medication adjusted to optimise treatment effectiveness.
Useful clinical information is extracted by using the Vigil system algorithms that are a combination of innovative rules, and fuzzy logic and neural networks.
Overseas clinical trials using patient biometric measurements collected in the home have shown that preventable deaths may be reduced by 50% and hospital admission rates reduced by 30%.
“We believe use of the Vigil’s technology by vulnerable home patients will dramatically improve safety and healthcare outcomes and provide medical practitioners with valuable tools for preventative healthcare treatments,” continued Sir Ray.
“It has a huge potential to improve global healthcare and create a billion dollar global business,”
Vigil has already entered into a partnership agreement with one of New Zealand’s largest emergency health services providers to conduct clinical patient trials and has ongoing negotiations with Australian and Asian Healthcare providers.
There is also a huge market for Vigil’s technology in the wider international healthcare market and Vigil is investing heavily in its own sensor technology, Cloud development and the acquisition of biosensors to monitor a range of clinical conditions.
This
“lean, disruptive ” technology application was
originally developed for the low cost infant incubators
designed by Sir Ray Avery for use in developing countries.
