Latest stats show Internet use taking off
New Zealanders are using the Internet more than ever before, with the latest data from Statistics New Zealand showing a 143% increase in Internet data use between 2013 and 2015.
InternetNZ Chief Executive Jordan Carter is excited by the trend and says New Zealanders are taking to the Internet far more than ever before.
"We've had an explosion in exciting new services that allow New Zealanders to use the Internet in new and innovative ways, and that's reflected in these statistics.
"More users and more data use means more opportunity for New Zealand businesses to get online and meet new customers," says Carter.
InternetNZ is also conscious that these trends will mean we have to be ever more mindful of those that we risk leaving behind from sharing in our ever more Internet-enabled economy and society.
"We all need to remain conscious of those that can't experience the full potential of the Internet due to limitations in skills, in the ability to pay, or in the ability to receive good Internet services.
"InternetNZ is here to help all New Zealanders realise the benefits and uses of the Internet, and to protect its potential. We're up for meeting these challenges, just as we're happy to celebrate the successes shown in this data," says Carter.
