New Zealand Wool Technology Flying To The Moon

Lanaco filters, made from New Zealand sheep's wool, will be flying with Shaun the Sheep mascot in NASA unmanned mission to the Moon at the end of this month.

On 30 August 2022, NASA has scheduled the first flight of Orion - a human carrying-capable spacecraft to the moon since 1972.

This momentous occasion will be the first and only (unmanned) dry run before the scheduled manned missions to the Moon and beyond as the programme commences.

The Orion spacecraft will be taking a few characters along for the ride, one of whom is none other than Shaun the Sheep. This by coincidence is a double event for our four-legged friends, as Kiwi technology company Lanaco, known for its respirator masks that protected our Olympians, will also have some its high performance sheep wool-based EcoStatic filters on board.

Not only that but Lanaco’s Head of Technology and driver of the Kiwi NASA filter project, Dr Shaun Tan will be celebrating as that is the cheeky moniker he shares with the animated sheep mascot.

Shaun Tan’s Lanaco filters and Shaun the Sheep are scheduled to be blasting off from Launch Pad 39b at Cape Canaveral in Florida at 4pm NZ time on 30 August.
