Heineken Open Streamed Live to the Internet

Heineken Open Streamed Live to the Internet

The internet has changed the way we communicate, the way we do business and is now poised to change the way we watch sport. As broadband speeds and home systems catch up with broadband streaming technology more fans can watch worldwide events of their choice. The internet viewer has the ability to watch an event "live" as it happens or play a delayed capture of the event. Internet sports coverage allows sports with a smaller local following to gain an international audience.

Since 2001 Planetstream.tv has been sending the New Zealand Summer of Tennis to the world. In collaboration with TVNZ, Planetstream.tv is providing the night feed of the Heineken Open for the TVNZ local broadcast. Planetstream.tv is providing the broadcast globally.

This year ATP Heineken Open is better than ever with a star-studded line-up including two players ranked in the ATP top 10, and the top eight seeds being in the top 30 of the world. The presence of many of the stars of the ATP circuit including Tommy Robredo and Mario Ancic means the eyes of the tennis world are this week on Auckland. With the current technological and network upgrades subscribers can now choose between connections of 256Kb, 512 kb and 1Mb.

The ASB Classic, ATP Heineken Open, ATP Thailand Open and the Dubai Tennis Championships have been the Planetstream.tv flagship events, demonstrating that this Kiwi company is able to provide cutting edge coverage of major sports events. It is now possible for event holders to give national and international exposure to their event by utilising their digital broadcasting rights. In partnering with Planetstream.tv they can develop an online global subscriber base and build ongoing interest for their particular event. Internet digital broadcasting can provide massive exposure to event brands and sponsors far beyond their local market.

Planetstream.tv also partners with local and international television and media networks to provide archived footage of events for download.
