So You Think (NZ) to Battle in Gr.1 Tattersalls Gold Cup

So You Think (NZ) to Battle in Gr.1 Tattersalls Gold Cup

May 19, 2011 - The eyes of the nation will turn to the kiwi bred Australasian champion So You Think (NZ) early on Monday morning as he heads back to the Curragh for his first Northern Hemisphere Group 1 tilt in the Tattersalls Gold Cup (2000m).

Entering the Cup market a 1-3 favourite ($4.00), So You Think (NZ)
(High Chaparral x Triassic) has lost his main opponent Workforce, trained by Sir Michael Stoute, who has opted to race the four-year-old in a considerably easier task in the Group 3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes (2000m) at Sandown Park in Surrey, England.

A winner of the Epsom Derby and Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe last season, Workforce was a hugely talented three-year-old, and is expected to clash with So You Think later in the season, with Group 1 racing at Royal Ascot on the cards for both horses.

Second favourite in the Gold Cup market is the multiple Group 3 winner Famous Name at 7-2, with So You Think's stablemate Await The
Dawn a 7-1 chance and British raider Campanologist also priced at 7-1.

Blowing his rivals away in his Irish debut and winning by the easiest of 10 lengths, his new trainer Aidan O'Brien hinted at what So You Think may be capable of.

"He was one of those horses that came with a bit of an aura about him and you couldn't really believe it. But when you see him as a specimen you think that this horse could be something different. It's exciting to have him here."

If O'Brien's glowing accolades weren't complement enough, jockey Ryan
More has scrapped his plans to ride Presvis in the Group 1 Singapore
Airlines International Cup in Singapore this weekend in order to ride So You Think at the Curragh.

Moore rode Presvis to victory in the prestigious 2011 Group 1 Dubai Duty Free only two starts ago, and was aboard when he ran sixth in the Group 1 Hong Kong Champion's Mile at his last start.

The Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup (2000m) is due to be run at 3.10pm on Sunday (Irish time) - 4.10am Monday morning New Zealand time.
