THE INTERNATIONAL CIVIL AVIATION ORGANIZATION
1. Post received a diplomatic note, dated 26 April 2007, from
the GoJ stating that it wishes to withdraw its candidature
for election to the Council of the International Civil
Aviation Organization (ICAO). The elections are scheduled
for the 36th session of the ICAO Assembly from 18-28
September, 2007. The text of the diplomatic note is as
follows:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade...has the
honor to inform of the decision of the Government of Jamaica
to withdraw its candidature for election to the Council of
the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO),
Category III, the elections for which are scheduled to be
held during the 36th Session of the ICAO Assembly, from
18th-28th September 2007, in Montreal, Canada.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade has the
honor (to) reiterate to the Heads of Diplomatic Missions
accredited to Kingston, the commitment of the Government of
Jamaica to further strengthen the safety, security, and
efficiency of international civil aviation, through
cooperation within ICAO.
