New Labour Threatens To Gag Media Over Campaign Finance
SUVA (Pacnews): Fiji's New Labour Unity Party will take legal action against some news media organisations after damaging reports surfaced over convicted Australian fraudster Peter Foster’s financial support for the party, Pacnews reports.
Foster contributed F$200,000 to the party and concerns have been raised over why ? and to what extent ? he might want to influence the party.
But at a media election seminar in Suva yesterday, New Labour candidate Ofa Duncan began the party’s presentation saying they would not entertain any questions on campaign funding.
When one person questioned candidates on the issue, another New Labour candidate, Ratu Sireli Viubau, informed members of the media that a writ would be issued against them today.
Foster, who is living at the Sheraton Hotel in Nadi, is reportedly planning a tourism venture in Fiji.
