Hamas Keeps the Name of the New Gaza Leader Unrevealed
GAZA -- The Islamic Resistance Movement(Hamas), named late at yesterday night secretly its new leader in Gaza Strip , following the extra-judicial execution of Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Rantisi by an Israeli combat helicopter.
A statement issued by Hamas, a copy of which received by the IPC, confirmed that the movement named a replacement secretly after its Hamas' Damascus-based leader Khaled Mash’al , had instructed that, in light of heightened Israeli escalation against the movement’s operatives, the Gaza leadership to keep the identity of the new appointee secret.
Al-Rantisi was the latest Hamas senior leader to
be assassinated by Israel after Sheikh Ahmad Yassin, the
founder of Hamas, was assassinated on March 22, 2004, as
Israeli enlisted him among the 70-80 Hamas senior leaders
to be killed , including those killed earlier like Ismail
Abu Shanab, Salah Shehada and Ibrahim Almaqadma.
