Statement from the Commissioner of Police
The
following is a statement by Commissioner of Police Andrew
Hughes with respect to 12 January 2006:-
On 12 January 2006 Fiji Police became aware of increased security at military establishments across Fiji.
In accordance with standard procedures, response units were placed on standby while the situation was monitored and assessed.
Based on reliable advice from the military, Police response units have now resumed normal duties.
There was no threat to national security and the law and order situation in Fiji remains calm.
