Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has thanked Tim George, Special Coordinator of the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands, for accompanying his delegation to visit the earthquake and tsunami victims in the Western and Choiseul Provinces.
Mr Sogavare expressed his gratitude over Mr George’s company after they arrived back in Honiara last weekend from the weeklong tour.
The Prime Minister said Mr George’s acceptance of the invitation to accompany his delegation was deeply appreciated by his government.
He thanked the RAMSI head for assuring the government and the people of the disaster-stricken regions of the Australian-led mission’s commitment to continue assisting the thousands left homeless in the wake of the April 2 catastrophe.
The Prime Minister also thanked Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan and Papua New Guinea and U.S Government for their assistances in aid of the disaster victims and assurances on further help.
Meanwhile, Tim George told Mr Sogavare and the people of the disaster-hit provinces last week that he was privileged to be part of the high-powered delegation.
He personally conveyed RAMSI’s condolences over the lives lost in the unprecedented calamity and the havoc it left behind.
