Gordon Brown praises entrepreneurs
The British Prime Minister has paid tribute to the talents of young people and the spirit of enterprise in Britain at the launch of Enterprise Week 2007.
Speaking to guests at the event in London this afternoon, the PM said that all young people "have something to offer" and that Britain was in the midst of creating the "most entrepreneurial generation we've ever had".
Enterprise Week, running until 18 November, and next year's inaugural worldwide equivalent, Global Entrepreneurship Week, will help change "not only our economies but also our societies", he said.
The PM said:
"Every young person has something to offer. Every young person has a talent that if unlocked will make a contribution to their economy and their society.
"Our duty is to do everything we can to help young people to unlcok those talents for the future."
Almost 2,000 organisations have signed up to Enterprise Week, with more than 5,000 separate events taking place aimed at encouraging young people with ideas. To date, 24 countries have signed up to Global Entrepreneurship Week that will run from 17-23 November 2008.
